CAIRO, June 17 (KUNA) -- The Egyptian coastal city of Alexandria will host a seven-day cultural festival titled (Kuwait in the heart of Egypt) next Thursday.
The event, which will be held at the Cultural Creativity Center, is to be inaugurated by Alexandria's Governor Major General Adel Labib and Kuwaiti Ambassador to Egypt Dr. Rasheed Al-Hamad.
In a statement to KUNA, Ambassador Dr. Al-Hamad said that the festival, organized in cooperation between the Kuwaiti Ministry of Information and the Culture Ministry in Egypt, was a form of rapprochement between the two sisterly countries and reflected at the same time the deep-rooted relations between them.
The festival was one of a series of fairs that were held in Egypt on an annually, a thing that buttressed the importance and necessity to hold mutual exhibitions, whether political, economic, cultural or educational, Dr. Al-Hamad noted.
The festival, which lasts until June 26th, includes a seminar titled (The Press between Egypt and Kuwait, a Historical Relationship), in which Chief Editor of al-Wafd newspaper Abbas Al-Tarabili and Kuwaiti journalist Mai Al-Ajmi would be participating, he said.
A poetic evening will be held on the sidelines of the festival, in which Kuwaiti poet Nashmi Al-Fadhli and Egyptians Sabri Abu Al-Alam and Jaber Bassiouni will be participating, Dr. Al-Hamad added, noting that the evening's activities will also include a musical performance by the Kuwaiti National Band.
Other cultural events in the festival include holding a book fair, a figurative art exhibition and a cultural contest, Dr. Al-Hamad said.
The Kuwaiti diplomat expressed full appreciation for the cultural project in Kuwait, stressing that the establishment of these festivals in Egyptian cities serve and contribute to boosting relations between the two countries and supports the bonds of brotherhood between the two brotherly peoples.
Dr. Al-Hamad pointed out that the festival comes after two days of the Joint Kuwaiti-Egyptian Supreme Committee at experts' level, which discussed a number of agreements and memoranda of understanding in trade, free zones, investments, holding exhibitions in both countries and protect the rights of employees.
The (Kuwait in the heart of Egypt) festival was previously held in several Egyptian governorates such as Aswan, Luxor, Port Said, Al-Behaira and Mansoura.
