Head of the Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Mines of Albania Gjoke Uldedaj met last Monday with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Nahavandian.

In the meeting, the two expressed their willingness to expand Tehran-Tirana relations in the trade and economic fields, IRNA reported.

The Albanian official said his country is keen on getting familiar with the economic potentials of Iran in order to boost bilateral trade. He added the two countries should take effective measures for making investments and holding trade exhibitions to pave the way for further ties.

Uldedaj said Albania enjoys considerable infrastructural opportunities which can lead the country to fostering bilateral cooperation with other countries including Iran.

Nahavandian, for his part, explained Iran's economic achievements and expressed its readiness to develop trade cooperation with Albania.

The official added Iran is prepared for participating in joint economic ventures with Albania.

He called for creating an economic cooperation council to increase trade exchange between the two states.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Nahavandian said there will be growth in demand for energy once the global economy gets rid of the ongoing financial crisis.

"The global economy will face an increase in demand for energy once gets out of the ongoing crisis; in case of no swift investment in the sector, there will be another crisis," Nahavandian warned in an address to the 4th Crans Montana Forum in Tirana.

Nahavandian said in the new energy map, the Persian Gulf states will shoulder more important role than the past and other countries especially the European states will have to have a special look at the region to meet their needs.

He said that Europe too will have to diversify resources to secure energy, especially gas.

In a meeting with Austrian economic and political officials and the heads of Europe's four commerce chambers in Vienna, Nahavandian said Europe is getting prepared for a jump in economic relations with Iran.

"It seems that change in the international political atmosphere has affected foresight of the European officials and this is regarded as a sign for availability of a suitable atmosphere for the purpose," Nahavandian told IRNA. He said to that end, Europeans are seemingly more serious and willing to upgrade their economic cooperation with Iran and it can be said that Europe is getting prepared for a sudden jump in its economic relation with the Islamic Republic.

Nabucco pipeline can address the goal for Europe but unfortunately the project has not witnessed an appropriate progress over recent years due to some political considerations, he regretted.

The Iranian envoy emphasized that the Islamic Republic of Iran has always had a positive approach towards cooperation with Europe, especially in the energy domain.
