'Each piece an urban object of desire'
KUWAIT CITY: The Al Yasra Fashion Company -- retailers in clothing, fashion, garments and accessories inaugurated its second Donna Karan boutique at the 360 Mall, Main Atrium, Ground Floor, on Sunday.
The boutique was opened by Anna Fervidi, Account Executive, Donna Karan. Donna Karan inspired by the art of the body, high-tech design liberates a woman's curves with modern simplicity, day-into-night, sleek look, graphic and racy. Fervidi told the press each piece is an urban object of desire, expressed in the starkness of black, ivory and shadow with passionate sparks of crimson fire. The silhouette is rounded with anatomical taped seaming, zipped up, pulled-on, or rubber snapped for speed and motion.
She went on to say, at the core: bold and direct body-molded must haves in seasonless neoprene, double-faced jersey or bonded poplin. The scuba body dress that skims the knee, the V-plunge scuba jacket, either short or long, and the lean double-knit jersey jumpsuit...
Then comes the artistan touch, sportswear as a work of art: collage pieces sliced with color, trapunto stitched dresses, brushstroke prints or origami pleated skirts, neoprene leather scubas or the must-have laminated trench.
The accessories are forward and chic, galactic clusters of 3d beads or crystals in playful brooches and ribboned necklaces. Shoes are pure galaxy glamour, New York style: peek-toed neoprene socks atop crystallized lucite wedges.
Fervidi said, the first Donna Karan boutique was opened in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia about 20 years. From then on the brand has become the household name in the Arabian Gulf.
Donna Karan credits her feminine instincts for the success of the company she launched in 1984 after graduating from Parsons School of Design. Her eponymous creations were an instant hit and have since won her a total of seven CFDA accolades, including the Lifetime Achievement award in 2004.
Donna Karan is known to support the needs of modern women with her clothing. When designing her clothes, Donna Karan claims not have the top model in mind, but women like her.
The first Donna Karan Signature store was opened in London in 1996 at 27 New Bond Street. The first DKNY flagship store opened in 1999 at Madison Avenue and 60th in New York.
