Dubai: Al Joker and Warsan romped to big wins in their final preliminary round matches to endorse their status as genuine title contenders in the futsal competition of the Nad Al Sheba Ramadan Championships being held at the Nad Al Sheba Club in Dubai.

While Al Joker mauled PVG 12-0, Warsan became the only team so far to maintain their unbeaten record with an 18-1 thrashing of the Guards.

Smarting from their 2-2 draw against Fazza Studio last week, Al Joker tallied a dozen thanks to four goals from Paulinho and a brace each from Morino, Rodrigues and Hesham Safar, while Habib Ghuloom and Arif Mohammad got one each.

In the second Group A match, Fazza Studio kept their unbeaten record intact with a 5-2 win over Altaf. Hamad Ebrahim scored a brace, while Ahmad Juma, Ahmad Awad and Bader Mosaad added one each. Mohammad Al Abbar and Eisa Mohammad got the goals for Altaf.

Warsan were the other big winners on the night after they racked up an 18-1 scoreline against The Guards. Khalifa Al Khoury got a double hat-trick, while Masaood Saeed and Ahmad Saeed bagged two apiece as Omar Farouk, Saeed Mohammad and Ahmad Hashim all got on the scoresheet. Jamal Saif was the lone scorer for The Guards.

Fazza Stables also signed off with a 2-0 win over Fazaa Stables 3 in the second match of Group B. Talal Esmail and Husham Sulaiman scored for the winners.

There will be no matches on Tuesday and action will recommence with the knockout stages of the futsal competition from Wednesday. The final will be held on Saturday.

Held under the patronage of Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, the annual Ramadan championships boast a prize fund of Dh7 million.
