Abu Dhabi, Sept 30th, 2012 (WAM) -- The Municipality of Abu Dhabi City, and Abu Dhabi Airports Company (Planning & Development Division) have explored ways and means of boosting joint cooperation in the implementation of Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) standards, and opening up communication channels.
A delegation from the HSE Division at the Municipality of Abu Dhabi City, headed by its Director engineer Abdul Aziz Zurub, made an exploratory visit to Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC) in the context of the Municipality?s keenness to consolidate the cooperative links, and step up cooperation with strategic partners with a view to adopting the highest international standards of HSE applications. The move is made in implementation of the Executive Council?s decision considering HSE standards as key pillars of construction projects in terms of ensuring the safety & health of workers, and nurturing a suitable environment for practicing activities free from potential risks. "In the course of implementing HSE standards, the Municipality of Abu Dhabi City is making serious endeavours to boost cooperative relations and joint cooperation with its strategic partners in a bid to enhance the HSE standards, and foster a safe & optimal working environment at all construction sites within the scope of the Municipality," said engineer Salah Awad Al Sarraj, Acting Executive Director of Town Planning Sector at the Municipality of Abu Dhabi City. During the meeting, engineer Abdul Aziz Zurub stressed the importance of registering contractors and consultants in the HSE e-system; being one of the key requirements of the Decision No (42) for 2009, indicating that the registration process was binding to all responsible sectors, and a circular had been issued in this regard. Engineer Abdul Aziz and the HSE Team hailed the cooperation of ADAC in this respect, and praised the arrangements taken and resources allocated before the start of the project. In order to further strengthen communication and integration, engineer Waleed Ramadan, from the HSE Division, was tasked to act as a liaison officer between the Municipality and ADAC with respect to HSE issues. For his part, Engineer Abdullah Al Dhareef, Head of HSE, Planning & Development Division (P&D) at ADAC, briefed the meeting on the organizational structure of the Construction & Operation Sector at ADAC, and made a presentation highlighting the HSE Management System Team, role of P&D Department, and the relationship between ADAC and the Department of Transport. The ADM delegation from the HSE Division toured a number of construction sites at Abu Dhabi International Airport Expansion Project, included a mobile training unit in the project tasked to raise the awareness and education about HSE matters. The meeting was attended by Abdul Aziz Zurub, Head of Inspection Section at HSE Division, ADM, Engineer Mohammed Al Hosni, and HSE Engineer Waleed Ramadan, Head of Security, Environment, Health & Safety ADAC, Engineer Abdullah Al Dhareef and other officials.Copyright Emirates News Agency (WAM) 2012.
