DOHA: Student interns from the Qatar University (QU) and the Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU-Q) has become winners of the RasGas Company Limited (RasGas)'s internship programme, summer star competition held recently.

Al Hajiri from Qatar University (QU) has been awarded the first place for her project 'Algal Fuel and Fossil- for a Better Future'.

The second place was awarded to Ahood Al Tawel from VCU-Q for her 'Supervisory Interpersonal Communications Project' and the third place winner was Mustafa Al Ghoul from QU for 'Improving Road Safety Using Scenario Based Risk Assessment' (SBRA).

More than 51 ambitious interns in the RasGas internship developed projects ranging from fossil fuel to interpersonal communications in their bid to become a 'Summer Star'.

The competition is held, rated and recognised by RasGas's National Development section.

"The competition is a vital part of RasGas's Summer Internship and we are delighted to see the exceptional skills and diligence of the participating interns," said Erhama Al Kaabi EDW Group Manager.

This year's interns have been studying in foreign countries and at Qatar University and within the Education City. The bonus of the competition is that the interns work in a RasGas environment that fosters innovation; sharing ideas and presenting their achievements.

Each intern is assigned a department mentor at different RasGas locations in Doha and Ras Laffan and their projects are based on their academic ability and field of interest.
