Abu Dhabi Ports will offer new locations for movie and television productions under a deal with twofour54, the emirate's media and entertainment arm which has already attracted major Hollywood blockbusters such as Star Wars and Fast and Furious.

The 12-month deal was part of a memorandum of understanding signed between Noura al Kaabi, chairwoman of Media Zone Authority-Abu Dhabi and twofour54 board, and Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, CEO of Abu Dhabi Ports, according to a statement on twofour54's website.

Under the agreement, twofour54 will offer Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi as a filming location to movie and television producers.

"A key attraction of Abu Dhabi to regional and international film productions is the variety of locations we can offer their projects. By partnering with Abu Dhabi Ports, twofour54 will be able to add a new, large scale filming location to the diverse list that we already offer film and television producers," Al Kaabi said.

Al Shamisi said that the budding production industry was part of the emirate's efforts to diversify the economy.

Abu Dhabi has attracted a number of major productions in recent years, helped by the 30 percent rebate it offers producers who choose to film in the Gulf emirate. These have included Hollywood hits such as Fast & Furious 7 and Star Wars: The Force Awakens, as well as Bollywood productions Dishoom and Bang Bang.
