BAGHDAD: Environment Minister Sargon Slew stressed that oil companies working in Iraq should abide by environmental regulations, according to a ministerial statement here today.
The statement, copy received by Aswat al-Iraq, added that the minister gave 30 days to the companies to rectify their environmental mistakes.
Ministry spokesman Ameer Ali al-Hassoun reported that the investing company in Wassit province minimized 70% of its mistakes due to environmental pressures by the province itself.
The minister was inspecting Wassit oil fields, as well as bricks factories in the area, where he called the owners to change their production systems to modern techniques till the end of this year.
