During the 45-day runway closure period, the DWC will see an average of 158 passenger flight movements per day operated by two charter carriers and 16 scheduled airlines including flydubai, Wizz Air, Aeroflot, Condor, Air India, Air India Express, Indigo, SpiceJet, Gulf Air, Royal Jordanian, Himalaya Airlines, Ukraine International Airlines, Nepal Airlines, Kuwait Airways, Salam Air, Mahan Air, flynas and Azur Air.

The major carriers are likely to continue operating from both the airports while smaller airlines with less number of flights can fully shift to the DWC during this period. An airline source said that they had stopped booking for transit passengers during this period to avoid hassle.

A flydubai spokesperson told Khaleej Times on Wednesday that it has chosen 41 destinations to operate from the DWC "in order to optimise connectivity and minimise disruption for connecting passengers".

Emirates airlines said it would announce more details in "due course". The Dubai-based carrier had earlier announced that it would reduce 25 per cent of its overall flights from DXB during the 45-day period.
