The northern suburb of Gammarth is currently hosting from May 6 to 8, the 10th French-Tunisian congress of cardiology. More than 100 Tunisian, French and foreign cardiologists are taking part in the event.

On the occasion, Mr. Mondher Zenaidi Minister of Public Health said that cardiology and cardiovascular surgery in Tunisia are among the medical specialties that have recorded qualitative and quantitative progress.  

Tunisia's experience in cardiology and cardiovascular surgery specialty is the subject of many scientific papers in international, European and North American congresses as well as several publications in scientific magazines, said the minister. 

Tunisia counts in its record around 350 cardiologists and cardiovascular surgeons and 28 departments of cardiology and cardiovascular surgery in public hospital.On his part, Mr. Mohamed Gueddiche, Minister Advisor to President Ben Ali and co-chair of the French-Tunisian Cardiology Society (AFTC) stressed Tunisia's achievements in cardiology thanks to the support of the President of the Republic. Mr. Gueddiche also stressed the necessity to further boost the exchange of skills and knowledge between Tunisian and French cardiologists.
