DUBAI, 15th April, 2017 (WAM) -- The Ministry of Education, MoE, will launch, on Sunday, a process to evaluate public schools as per the new criteria and benchmarks under the education development plan.

Ministry officials said the first phase of the evaluation process will include 162 schools and run until the end of the year.

Jameela bint Salem Al Muhairi, Minister of State for Public Education, in an orientation session with nearly 500 officials of the education sector and school principals, spoke in detail about the mechanisms of the new unified framework for evaluation nationwide.

She stated that according to the UAE Vision 2021 National Agenda, education is a fundamental element for the development of a nation and the best investment in its youth. For that reason, she emphasised the development of a first-rate education system, which will require a complete transformation of the current education system and teaching methods.

''The evaluation process is vital for all stakeholders, schools, teachers and students, as a well as decision-makers and policy-makers," Al Muhairi said.

"The findings will help identify the points of strength and weakness to develop performance and improve efficiency. The ministry, parents, students, schools and even investors will get reliable information about schools," she added.

''The process will also encourage the introduction of new, creative learning practices and enable schools to prioritise development and improvement plans,'' she explained.
