The cost of building the new Doha port is expected to increase by 20% from QAR 25 billion (USD 6.86 billion) to QAR 30 billion (USD 8.24 billion) as the global prices of some materials and supplies has gone up, an official close to the project told Zawya.

The New Doha International Port is being developed in three phases. It will be linked to the mainland by an 8.5km-long trestle bridge. Phase three will include a container terminal, berths, an administration and customs complex and a tug and pilot boats berthing area.
The port development is expected to support industrial development in the area and will be have a final capacity of six million TEU per year by 2030.
