ABU DHABI (Zawya Dow Jones)--Boeing Co. (BA) handed a 10-year contract to Mubadala Aerospace's Strata Manufacturing to produce carbon composite parts for the 777 and 787 Dreamliner, strengthening Abu Dhabi's bid to become a global player in the aerospace industry.

Strata will make ribs for the 777 and vertical fin ribs for the 787 Dreamliner, Boeing's lightweight carbon composite aircraft, with delivery slated to start in 2013, the U.S. planemaker said in a statement Tuesday. It didn't say what the deal was worth.

Strata is a composite aerostructures company, owned by Mubadala Aerospace, a unit of the Abu Dhabi government-owned Mubadala Development Co.

Abu Dhabi, the largest and richest of the United Arab Emirates, is building an aerospace industry as part of a long-term plan to diversify the economy away from its oil reliance.
