Outstanding result for Porsche at Middle East Motor Awards 2010 underlines benchmark status for product offer
Porsche Middle East and Africa takes homes three awards
Under the patronage of Mohammed Ben Sulayem, sporting ambassador for the Arab World, the MEMA ceremony took place at the Expo Centre Sharjah on the opening day of the 10th Sharjah International Automobile Show.
The first award for Porsche was handed over by Sulayem to an elated Deesch Papke, Managing Director of Porsche Middle East and Africa , for the Cayman S, winner of the "Best Sports Car" category. The well established 320 hp, six-cylinder mid-engine sports car won against strong opposition such as the Audi TT RS and the BMW Z4.
Last but certainly not least, Porsche 's new four-door Gran Turismo, the Panamera, continued its success story. Against top rivals such as the Aston Martin Rapide and Maserati Quattroporte, the Panamera Turbo with its 4.8-litre V8 twin-turbo engine with an impressive 500 hp, emerged as the overall winner for the "Best Luxury Sports Saloon Car" and concluded Porsche 's success story of this year's MEMA ceremony.
