The 6th ICT Security Forum in Syria
IT Technology and Telecommunications entered in all the social, scientific, cultural, economic and service fields of our contemporary life. Today this technology plays a pivot role in the sector of business and administration in particular through what this technology provides of prerequisites that achieve developed systems related to facilitation, speed, and precision of accomplishing the work in the different public and private business establishments. However, the security, confidentiality, and privacy of information in the shadow of these technologies are considered of the important topics at these activities for maintaining the confidentiality and privacy of their works.
With the expansion of the internet spread and increase of electronic applications and services that are supplied by the private institutions, banks and public entities through it, and the development of the mobile telecommunications means, and the possibility of using developed generations of them to browse internet and perform electronic services, and even banking services, along with the existence of week points and gaps in the electronic computers and network supplies, and their operation systems, all this formed a suitable background for the dangerous electronic attacks and penetrations at a large scale, which would expose the works of the individuals and institutions to delay, and big financial losses, and delaying the administrative development and electronic services and works.
Out of this principle, the 6th ICT Security Forum is held under the patronage of Dr. Imad Al-Sabouni the Minister of Telecommunications and Technology along with a support from the Syrian Computer Society (SCS), and organize by ALSALAM for Conferences, on 12-13/10/2010 at Four Seasons Hotel in Damascus.
The forum shall discuss the most important findings in the tools, technologies and management of IT security and telecommunications through the lectures that are going to be delivered by experts and consultants specialized in the information and telecommunications security from the Arab and foreign countries, and from the European and Asian countries in such a way to achieve benefit to the participants in the forum by exchanging information and experiences and in protection of information systems of their institutions and the workers in the field of information by using the security procedures and equipments in early stages of their work, or in developing their different information programs and equipments. As a matter of fact the works of the forum developed year after year, as it moved from discussing the general topics in ICT security to discussing the most important developments and findings in the sector of information technology and the tools that provide security and safety for the information systems, besides to discussing in depth some of the topics and discussing the modern ICT security.
Mr. Maher Abdul Hak, General Manager of ALSALAM FOR CONFERENCES (organizing) said that more than /800/ par cipants from the private establishments and banks, public authorities, the incubator of information works, telecommunications companies, specialized scientific universities and institutes, and Syrian Computer Society, besides to a number of participants from Arab and foreign countries (Iran, Turkey, Italy, Malaysia, Germany, Romania, France, Greece, Switzerland, Austria, UAE, Egypt, Bahrain, KSA, Qatar, Kuwait, Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria). The forum will be beneficial for IT and Telecommunications specialists in general and for the IT managers and those who work in the information departments, ICT security officials in all the public and private institutions, banks insurance companies, and those who work in the telecommunications companies, internet services providers, and specialists of universities professors, students of the information faculties and telecommunications in particular.
The forum shall be accompanied by an exhibition or the supervising and supporting local and international companies (telecommunications companies, IT security companies and electronic services providers) so as to present the latest findings they have as related to tools, and software used in information and telecommunications security. Recommendations shall be offered for the participants about the method of investing the tools and technologies of ICT security in protecting information in their institutions.
