Dubai: MBA students at University of Dubai will be certified by CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants) as a passed finalist upon their graduation, if they take the opportunity to sit for a maximum of 3 CIMA examinations along with their MBA studies, University of Dubai and CIMA have announced.

Qualified students with three years relevant experience will be entitled to a dual award and designation, CIMA's globally accredited membership and designation that is powered by AICPA (American Institute of Certified Public Accountants) and CIMA, making them part of the largest global network. CIMA, headquartered in United Kingdom, is the world's largest and leading professional body of management accountants and AICPA, is the largest accounting body. The certification includes all MBA majors and not the finance & accounting major alone.

Dr. Eesa M. Bastaki, President of University of Dubai, congratulated the MBA faculty members and students stating that this prestigious certificate by CIMA is another milestone in UD strategic plan to become one of the top universities in the world. He added that CIMA certification came as the result of constantly updating of our MBA curriculum, quality education and rich professional and industry experience of our faculty members.

CIMA, not for profit organization, has more than 227,000 members and students in 179 countries and with their joint venture with AICPA has a global network of over 550,000. It is very well connected with global business communities and has strong relationships with employers, and sponsor leading research.

Dr. Ananth Rao, Director of MBA and PhD programs at University of Dubai said that the CIMA membership certificate will offer an opportunity to our MBA students to be certified as CPA Australia and CMA Canada. Based on their audit practice experience, they may also be able to apply as CPA in USA.  He added that by becoming a member of CIMA, this certificate will save our students a lot of resources needed to study, apply and pass towards prestigious global professional certifications and memberships".
