28 April 2015
The landmark event will engage key stakeholders from the public and private sectors in an intense debate dedicated to creating a new SME agenda in Oman.

Under the patronage of His Excellency Dr. Rasheed Bin Al Safi Al Huraibi, Chairman of the Tender Board, SME Advisor magazine along with Presenting Partner National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) will host SME Beyond Borders in Oman on April 30th, 2015.

Senior government officials, decision makers, economists and renowned SME experts will participate in the one-day conference, which will take place in the prestigious setting of Al Bustan Palace, Ritz Carlton, Muscat.

The event will focus on two primary themes - "Transformation: how entrepreneurs can deliver the public sector economic vision" and "Building a business: finance, recruitment and customer-delivering growth strategies in today's market". Each module will feature two keynote speakers and one VIP panel discussion with members of the public and private sectors, and touch upon critical topics such as:

  • The need for actual management training, not entrepreneurship grooming as such.

  • Is setting up a business often derailed or slowed down by labour registration categories with only a limited fit to business needs?

  • The need for tendering procedures to be more widely publicised and

  • Are there enough opportunities for public/private sector partnership?

  • The challenge of creating more transparent working practices and making audited accounts a feasible norm.

  • Recruitment issues - finding qualified people in practical areas such as electronics, welding, and engineering assembly.

Attendees at SME Beyond Borders will enjoy valuable insights from the likes of EY Oman, Injaz Oman, Knowledge Oman, Protiviti Global and several other SME-focused organisations. This is the first time that an SME event in Oman has received such a high level of participation and support from the public and private sectors.
