MUSCAT -- Well-known private hospital group, Star Care Hospital, a division of the UK's Star Care Health Systems is to invest RO 50 million in the Sultanate's private healthcare sector in the coming years, according to one of its top officials. "We will be investing RO 50m in the private healthcare sector of the Sultanate of Oman in the coming years and we have plans afoot for various hospitals and clinics across the country", said Dr Sadik Kodakat, Chairman of Star Care Group told the Observer.

Speaking on the sidelines of a function at First Medical Centre in Al Khuwair, an initiative that jumpstarted a series of similar projects, Dr Sadik said a number of such initiatives are currently on the pipeline to make high quality healthcare affordable and accessible to people living in different areas of Oman. "Our aim is to reach out to as many communities as possible in their neighbourhood itself so that people get more personalised care of high standards without having to drive long distances. This is the first of a number of such centres we plan to open in the coming months", Kodakat said.

Star Care bought 100 per cent stake in First Medical centre located prominently on the main highway in Al Khuwair which was earlier known as Welcare Diagnostic and Treatment Centre. Star Care UK currently operates its JCI accredited Hospital located in Mawaleh, Seeb. The Group's medical centre projects in Al Athaiba and Al Amerat and the Hospital project in Buraimi are due to open this year. Star Care also plans to set up medical centres in Al Khoud and Qurum and hospital projects in Duqm and Al Amerat soon after. To achieve this, the ambitious medical group is using a highly proactive business strategy and has plans of joining hands with prominent local partner individuals, companies and government entities. "We will be using a variety of business partnership models to achieve this. The only consistent feature of our partnership models is that the quality of service delivered to the public is assured by Star Care. All other equations can be variable", Dr Sadik added.

In all the hospitals, the group will be offering specialty care services including Digital mammography system, bone densitometer, 4D Ultrasound scanning, in house pharmacy, laboratory and visa medical services. When fully expanded, Star Care First Medical Centre will have round the clock urgent care service at call.

"It's our endeavour to give back something to the society so that our CSR initiatives are kept alive. We will continue bringing in world class health services to Oman fitting to the average people's budget", Dr Sadik further added.
