Sir Ranulph Fiennes OBE - widely described as the 'world's greatest living explorer' - will make a speech to more than 850 shipping and maritime personalities at the 12th Seatrade Maritime Awards Middle East, Indian Subcontinent & Africa.

This evening of high level networking takes place on Monday 19 October in the Joharah Ballroom, MadinatJumeirah, Dubai, UAE when industry personalities gather to mix with industry friends and colleagues and hear who from the industry has been awarded across different categories for outstanding efforts in the maritime marketplace.

The inclusion of Sir Ranulph will bring an exciting addition to the evening.  During the last 20 years his astonishing feats of physical and mental endurance have claimed 10 expeditionary world records. He was awarded the Sultan of Oman's Bravery Medal in 1970, the Polar Medal with bar from the Queen, the Explorers Club of New York Medal in 1983, the Royal Scottish Geographical Society's Founder's Medal in 1984, and both he and his first wife received the Polar Medal in 1987. He has received an Honorary Doctorate of Science.

In 1993 he was awarded an OBE for "human endeavour and charitable services". He has led 22 major expeditions to remote parts of the world including to both Poles. He is the author of several books including The Feather Men the UK No1 Best Seller and Fit For Life plus an autobiography, which has been recently updated.

Sir Ranulph will be joined on stage by Stephen Marney, international broadcaster and presenter, who will be master of ceremonies for the evening.

Guests will also be able to enjoy the great vocal range of Nicole Lawrence, who has appeared on the UK's X-Factor in 2009 and 2015 and has been described as music mogul, Simon Cowell as 'incredible'.
