RIYADH -- The surplus budget announced here Monday has a lot of good for the citizens and expatriates and will create job opportunities for male and female Saudi nationals, Dr. Abdul Rahman Bin Abdullah Al-Barrak, Minister of Civil Service, has said. "The government has given special attention to public sector jobs and the labor market in general. Also, it has given priority to general and higher education including scholarships and training abroad," he said.

Dr. Khaled Bin Muhammad Al-Anqari, Minister of Higher Education, welcomed the huge state budget which he says will boost growth throughout all sectors. He said a massive 24% of the budget has been allocated for the education sector and universities which confirm that education was top priority of the government.

Prince Faisal Bin Abdullah Bin Muhammad, Minister for Education, praised the directives from King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, for developing education through Tatweer Holding Company to carry out strategic projects for the education environment.

Dr. Yusuf Bin Ahmad Al-Othaimeen, Minister of Social Affairs, also lauded the budget as comprehensive and balanced. He said many of the budget programs pivot around the citizens' basic needs in fields such as housing, education, training, health, job opportunities and in social aspects. Al-Othaimeen said the budget will be the source of a lot of bounty and growth for the country and its people.

Dr. Shuwaish Bin Saud Al-Dhuwaihi, Minister of Housing, said the budget comes as development programs are trying to keep pace with the King's vision of progress, growth and advancement in different fields at local, regional and global levels. He said housing projects are being followed up directly by the King which reflects his keenness to provide suitable housing for Saudi families.

At present, over 40 housing projects are being constructed across the country, he said. Another 11 huge projects are at the designing stage, he added.
