Announcement made during Orientation of 'SME CLEANTECH Mission' to Canada. SMEs encouraged to avail of opportunity.
UAE-based conglomerate S.S. Lootah Group is to allocate AED 220 million for its 'Green Procurement Program'. The announcement was made during an orientation event held at the Group's headquarters on March 20, 2010, about the 'SME CLEANTECH Mission' to Canada, in the presence of a delegation of UAE entrepreneurs from the Mohammed Bin Rashid Establishment for SME Development (MBRE) participating in the initiative.
Addressing the delegation, Eng. Yahya Saeed Lootah, CEO of S.S. Lootah Group commented, "Young UAE entrepreneurs today have a better chance to benefit from the competitive procurement programs in the private sector with a significant shift in corporate policies in-line with the vision of the nation's leadership, as well as legislations pushing for better use of new technologies in energy & water, recycling and other applications with economic and environmental benefits."
The Group has been pursuing an active procurement program with members of MBRE for which it was recently recognised with the 'Mohammed Bin Rashid Award for Young Business Leaders' as the best private entity support to SMEs. Suppliers of energy & water technologies and products, green building materials among others will benefit from the program.
The 'SME CLEANTECH Mission', conceived in association with S.S. Lootah Canada, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the S.S Lootah Group and GLOBE Foundation, Canada, will be held during GLOBE 2010, the world's leading 'business of the environment' trade fair at Vancouver Canada from March 24-26. The mission aims to create new business opportunities through international cooperation and learn about the latest innovations in cleantech areas.
The delegation led by H.E Abdul Baset Al Janahi, CEO- MBRE and Manoj Nakhra, COO- MBRE, will leave on the Mission on March 21, 2010. The entrepreneurs include Fahd Obeid Mohamed Rashed, Hamda Harizi, Suhail Bin Ahmed, Khalid Al Jowder, Jasem Alshehhi, Amal Ibrahim, Abdulla Bu Haroon and Mona Saleh.
The delegates expressed their appreciation for MBRE and S.S. Lootah Group for organising the initiative and said, "In the past few weeks since we joined the mission, we have already benefited from the study of important developments in the cleantech sector towards achieving sustainability in our business areas."
