DOHA: More than QR1.3m was raised for Qatar-based charities at the RasGas 2011 Charity Gala Dinner and Pro Am Golf Tournament conducted here recently. Some 350 RasGas Company Limited (RasGas) customers, key business associates, employees and professional golfers from around the world came together for the annual event, a key feature in the RasGas' Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme.

Qatar Society for the Rehabilitation of Special Needs (QSRSN), Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) paediatric unit and the Qatar Foundation for the Care of Elderly People will all benefit through the generous donations of guests and participants to RasGas' Sunduk Al Kheir charity fund.

"RasGas is a committed corporate citizen and we are determined to make a positive contribution to the life of Qatar's communities, through our dynamic Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme and the RasGas Sunduk Al Kheir charity fund," said Hamad Rashid Al Mohannadi, RasGas Managing Director.

During the black tie dinner there was keen bidding in the charity auction for 20 RasGas pro-am golf teams as well as for the DGC golf club membership, a five star Mannai Travel holiday and the pre-loaded QNB credit cards all generously donated by RasGas suppliers. A raffle running during the evening featured Sony televisions and entertainment systems, as well as weekend breaks at five star hotels.

A number of winners kindly donated their prizes back to the community, including one guest who gave up his prize of two Qatar Airways business class flights to allow a sick child and their escort to travel to Europe for medical treatment.
