DOHA: Total and Qatar Petroleum (QP) yesterday signed a research framework agreement that sets foundation for research cooperation between the two companies.
The Minister of Energy and Industry and Chairman and Managing Director of QP, H E Dr Mohammed bin Saleh Al Sada, and Total's CEO, Christophe De Margerie, along with senior officials were present at yesterday's signing ceremony.
The agreement was signed on behalf of QP by Director Issa Shahin Issa Al Ghanim, Chairman of the Steering Committee for Research and Technology and on behalf of Total by Managing Director Stephane Michel.
The agreement is expected to contribute in ongoing efforts to develop QP's Research and Technology Department into a fully operational unit. In line with this, QP plans to sign similar agreements in the near future with other international oil and gas companies (IOCs) operating in Qatar.
