Muscat: National Bank of Oman's (NBO's) new head office building is expected to be completed by 2017.

The 50,000 square-metre development will comprise a total of nine floors, including two basements levels, ground, mezzanine and five upper floors, providing a high-quality office space, together with a range of supporting facilities. The design will be inspired by the country's world-famous landscape, while showcasing the key cultural elements which define Oman.

"Construction of NBO's new home in the heart of Muscat is making great progress and we are firmly on-track for a 2017 opening. Once open, the new facility will not only be a prestigious new landmark on Muscat's skyline, but also the platform for the next phase of NBO's growth," said Ahmed Al Musalmi, chief executive officer (CEO) of NBO.

"We look forward to serving our nation and our customers from our new world-class headquarters, while creating a truly exceptional work environment for our employees as we continue to drive our vision forward: To be the bank of choice," he added.

The NBO chairman and Al Musalmi had recently led a group of senior managers to inspect the progress of construction at the company's new head office.

The delegation was pleased to see that the construction of the two basement levels stories was nearing completion, with work having moved to the ground level.

Founded in 1973, NBO is the Sultanate's first local bank. Today, it is one of the largest institutions in Oman offering financial solutions to fulfil the needs of its customers. The bank is also committed to community investment through its corporate social responsibility activities, with an emphasis on five focus areas, including health and human services, arts and culture, education, environment and women and youth.
