Deira City Centre in partnership with Dubai Health Authority conduct free heart health tests in support of 'Go Red for Women'

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 08 May 2012 - This past weekend, Deira City Centre supported Go Red for Women for the third year in a row, in partnership with Dubai Health Authority (DHA) to raise the red flag against heart disease in women - the world's number one killer. Offering free heart health tests and advice, medical practitioners from Dubai Hospital took over the mall's Centre Stage to educate women on healthy living and preventative measures. This year, more  than 685 women took action by taking body mass index (BMI), blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol tests. This is the highest number of women tested to-date, over a weekend since Deira City Centre first adapted the Go Red for Women campaign in 2010.

The success of the Go Red for Women campaign enabled Deira City Centre to reach out to the community and raise awareness about the threat of cardiovascular disease (CVD) in women, underscoring the importance of routine check-ups and health consciousness in preventing the disease. The event shed light on what has previously been considered a "man's disease" by empowering women to take charge of their health and join together in the fight against the number one killer in the world, cardiovascular disease.

"Deira City Centre is proud of yet another successful Go Red for Women event. Distributing up-to-date information and offering free health check-ups is an important way that we can help combat the disease and encourage females to lead a healthy lifestyle," said Fuad Al Najjar, Senior Asset Director, Asset Management, Shopping Malls. Deira City Centre also showcased its Red Dress Gallery of fashionable red dresses donated by the mall's retailers during the campaign. The red dress is the global symbol for the Go Red for Women campaign and represents femininity, the heart and female empowerment. Each dress will be given away a prize to shoppers through the mall's Facebook page.
