JEDDAH: The Ministry of Interior is to soon launch mobile Civil Status (Ahwal Al-Madani) offices that would travel around the Kingdom and offer members of the public the same services that Civil Status offices provide.
The services that Ahwal Al-Madani offices provide include registering newborn babies and issuing death certificates.
Maj. Gen. Abdul Rahman bin Abdul Aziz Al-Fida, undersecretary at the Ministry of Interior, said the mobile units would begin operating at prisons in Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam before moving to hospitals, universities, government ministries, schools, and public and private organizations.
Ahwal Al-Madani offices are usually extremely busy. The crowd problem is further intensified as the registration offices are only found in big cities.
