Organized site visit in collaboration with Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture & Tourism

Abu Dhabi - Senior delegates from Chefs and heads of Procurements in Abu Dhabi hotels visited number of farms under Zaarie program, which was launched by Khalifa Fund lately to support and empower the Emiratis working in agriculture sector inside UAE.

Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development and Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture & Tourism organized this visit in order to introduce Zaarie products of Chiefs and heads of procurements in Abu Dhabi main hotels.

Ahmed Khalfan Al Romaithi the Manager of Zaarie Program in Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development said, "The visit includes four farms in Al Khatem& Beda Fares where the delegates see the quality of the agriculture products which are very high quality but with competitive prices".

"The farms are able to cover big parts of the market's needs from cucumbers, tomatoes, lettuce as well as some kinds of fruits. The Fund is working currently on finding the best solutions for the logistics issues by encouraging the farmers themselves to adopt the group solution that save time, effort & cost for farmers", added Al Romaithi.

"The program aims to empower the Emiratis working in agriculture sector and to help them to develop their farms through encouraging them to use the best technology and to spread the non-traditional methods of farming to reduce water consumption", explained Al Romaithi.

"The Fund will supports the farmers who are interested in transforming to the modern farming by using the hydroponic techniques, to reduce water consumption in Abu Dhabi.

Sultan Al Dhaheri the Acting Executive Director of Tourism sector in Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture & Tourism said, "TCA is very keen in supporting all national initiatives & programs focus on tourism sector. The delegates from popular hotels in Abu Dhabi such as Jumeirah at Etihad Towers, Khalidiya Palace Rayhaan, Millennium, Rotana and Ritz-Carlton expressed their interest on the quality of the agriculture products form Zaarie farms. They express their willingness to cooperate with Khalifa Fund in considering those products to cover the daily demands from vegetables & fruits"

The Chefs& heads of procurement were very impressed with the quality of Zaarie's farms products. They express their interest to collaborate with Khalifa Fund to consider their products as the main source for the daily needs for fruits and vegetables.

The hydroponic techniques contributes greatly in the reducing the negative impact for the weather and the soil on the agriculture products. In addition, it is new farming methodology in the country that will assist in reducing water consumption and will increase the production which will lead to reduce food export, that will enhance the food security in Abu Dhabi.

Zaarie Program is the first from its kind that launched by financial or development entity in the country, that provide comprehensive financial solutions for the Emiratis who own or work in the agriculture sector.
