Dubai: The Jumeirah Al Naseem hotel is on track to open in the summer of 2016, according to Jumeirah Group’s top executive.

The 430-room hotel is under construction at Madinat Jumeirah, which is home to the Mina A Salam and Jumeirah Al Qasr hotels.

“Construction is going very well and we look forward to opening around August-September,” Gerald Lawless, president and chief executive of Jumeirah Group, told Gulf News on the sidelines of the Dubai International Project Management Forum on Tuesday.

Madinat Jumeirah is undergoing a Dh2.5 billion expansion, which involves the addition of a villa complex, restaurants and a commercial centre with retail outlets by March 2016.

The Dubai-based luxury hotel chain is expanding its presence globally, with 20 hotels currently under construction, which are scheduled to open by 2018. This will bring the total number of Jumeirah properties to 42.

The group plans to open a hotel each in Bali and Mumbai next year, eight in China between 2016 and 2020, and one in Dubai’s Business Bay area as part of a mixed-use development by 2020, among others.
