Amman, Sept. 13 (Petra)

The Senate approved during a session on Thursday the draft Islamic Sukuk Law, the Awaqf and Islamic Affairs Law and the Appropriation Law.

During the session, chaired by Senate President Taher Masri and attended by Prime Minister Fayez Tarawneh and Cabinet members, the Senate approved the 2012 Islamic Sukuk Law as referred from the Lower House of Parliament.

The Sukuk Law would allow for more cash to flow into the country by allowing sukuk (the Islamic equivalent of bonds) to be issued in the capital market to finance projects and investments.
