Dubai - United Arab Emirates: HE Dr. Hussain Al Rand, Assistant Under-Secretary for Health Centres and Clinics with Ministry of Health at UAE, inaugurated today the third edition of the Dubai Otology Conference and Exhibition, which is held at the Mohammed Bin Rashid Academic Medical Center in Dubai Healthcare City.  

After the traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony, HE Dr. Hussain Al Rand, accompanied by a number of officials, heads of delegation, and representatives had a tour in the exhibition area and were introduced to the most advanced medical devices, technologies, and equipment displayed by national, regional, and international industry players.

On the sidelines of the opening ceremony, HE Dr. Hussain Al Rand said to the press: "The decision of choosing Dubai, as the city to host this conference reflects the global confidence in the ability of Dubai and the UAE to host such international meetings. It also confirms the prestigious reputation of the United Arab Emirates, which has been achieved, thanks to the continuous efforts of our wise leadership whom are keen to promote and enhance the healthcare sector in the UAE. This sector is also receiving much attention by the government of the UAE in order to preserve the health of both citizens and residents."

From his side, Dr. Ahmed Al Amadi, Consultant Otologist & Neurotologist and Medical Director at Al Baraha Hospital, and the Dubai Otology Conference Chairman said: "This year, we are emphasizing on new advances in implantable hearing devices, the development of balloon Eustachian tube dilatation, and the advances in imaging technology. In association with Arab Academy of Otology & Cochlear Implant - AOOCI, we are going to have a special session on setting conditions and minimum standards for accreditation process of cochlear implant centers in Arab countries."

Dr. Ahmed Al Amadi continued on saying: "I believe that the conference this year will witness a larger number of participations from nurses and technicians as we are having more hands-on and practical video sessions that will come up with great benefits to the attendees."

Dr. Abdul Salam Al Madani, Executive Chairman of Dubai Otology Conference and Exhibition said after the opening ceremony: "Hosting this focused event successfully for the third year confirms our continuous commitment towards health and education sectors given its vital role in highlighting the position of the UAE as an international hub for health improvement."
