Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain - Gulf Air, the Kingdom of Bahrain's national carrier, has launched a joint-solution with Anixe, a state-of-the-art internet booking engine supplier, and Vayant Travel Technologies, a provider of customized, personalized and innovative core shopping engines, to improve the airline's ecommerce website with a next-generation booking and shopping platform.

The enhanced platform supports the airline's drive to strengthen its online and mobile channels, adding dynamic shopping and booking capabilities to give clients a more personalized travel experience.

Gulf Air A/Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Maher Salman Al Musallam, said: "This partnership with Anixe and Vayant Travel Technologies will improve the experience for customers booking flights and purchasing various travel add-ons such as rail tickets, hotel bookings, car rentals, tours and more through gulfair.com. As consumers are becoming increasingly more sophisticated and demanding a more seamless experience, this initiative ensures we deliver that to them while still maintaining a direct relationship between the customer and our airline."

Radoslaw Tomczyk, Chief Executive Officer, AnixePolska, said: "Our goal is to build a comprehensive suite that increases flexibility and performance while driving down overall costs for the airline and providing a seamless travel experience to its consumers regardless of the device or online channel they access. This solution is a solid foundation to fulfill current and future needs of Gulf Air."

Eric Dumas, Chief Executive, Vayant Travel Technologies, said: "It takes something special to succeed in today's travel ecommerce environment. With Anixe we've given Gulf Air a shopping solution that meets the expectations of today's demanding travel buyer."

For the first time the joint solution will introduce a unified booking engine for Gulf Air, replacing three separate booking engines which served different categories of bookers (individual travelers, corporate travelers and loyalty scheme redemption travelers). Unifying the booking engine will enable Gulf Air to reach its online targets more cost-effectively, and with flexibility to develop and release future solutions quickly for all categories of bookers.

The Anixe-Vayant solution will operate independently of the host reservation system and offer fare and availability searches for up to a full year across all fares and flight combinations. It will be connected with Gulf Air's current reservation system for booking creation.
