City's skyline has been voted one of the best in the world
Dubai's skyline has been voted one of the best in the world, alongside iconic cities such as New York and Hong Kong.
A survey, carried out by Emporis, a building-data company, ranked the emirate as showcasing the eighth most impressive skyline on the planet.
With cities such as Shanghai, Singapore and Chicago to compete with, Dubai's skyscrapers, including the world's tallest building Burj Khalifa and Emirates Towers, fared well. Cities were ranked according to the visual impact of their skylines, and research was carried out purely on statistics held by Emporis.
It included completed high-rise buildings, and did not include bridges, masts or TV towers.
The formula used by Emporis gave points to each building depending on the number of floors it has.
Once calculations were carried out, each city was ranked according to the points it was awarded.
Hong Kong scooped first place with almost 130,000 points and New York was second with almost 40,000 points.
Dubai scored close to 15,000 points with the help of the Burj Khalifa.
