Passenger traffic at Dubai International Airport is closing on the five million flyers a month mark, it was revealed yesterday as the hub announced another impressive hike in traveller numbers.
Dubai Airports, the hub's operator, said traffic reached 4.84 million passengers in March - up 15.4 per cent on the same month last year. Those numbers took traffic for the first three months this year to 14.26 million - up 16.1 per cent on the same quarter in 2011.
Travellers coming to and from other Gulf countries accounted for the biggest year-on-year traffic increase, with an extra 174,537 flyers in March this year. Western Europe and Africa were in second and third spot respectively, as both added about 100,000 passengers.
