23 International Press Clubs Mark10th Anniversary of IAPC

Polska Press Club Elected Vice President

Dubai Press Club (DPC) today hosted the annual meeting of the International Association of Press Clubs (IAPC), bringing together senior representatives from 23 press clubs worldwide. The event held at the Grand Hyatt also marked the IAPC's tenth anniversary.

In its capacity as the founding member and thenewly elected President of IAPC, DPC conducted a poll that named the Polska Press Club to the post of IAPC Vice-President. Warsaw, Poland, was also selected as venue for the next annual meeting through the electoral process.

Held in the aftermath of the Arab Media Forum (AMF), the IAPC members congratulated DPC for hosting a successful eleventh edition of the AMF and Arab Journalism Awards (AJA). Theyalso expressed interest in participating in future editions to offer an international perspective of press clubs.

In addition, the members looked into strategies that would contribute to developing the IAPC forthe benefit ofpress clubs around the world.

Maryam Bin Fahad, Executive Director,Dubai Press Club, said: "We hope to make the annual assembly a part of DPC's annual activity calendar. The completion of ten years and the presence of 23 international members is a testament to the IAPC's success. I am honoured that DPC is currently the President and the permanent General Secretariat of this wonderful association."

During the meeting, DPC shared the results of the fourth Arab Media Outlook. The report was received positively with a number of members aiming to use the outcomes of the report on trends and growth patterns in the media industry across the Arab region.

Dubai Press Club was established in 1999 under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. Since then, DPC has played a pioneering role in the development of the Arab media through a host of media development initiatives, the most vital among them being the Arab Media Forum, the Arab Journalism Awards and the Arab Media Outlook.
