• Five-member jury panel, comprising of local and international experts chaired by UAE Minister of Economy, endorses award winners

Dubai - The Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry has finalised its preparations for the closing ceremony of the 8th cycle of the annual Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Business Award being held at MadinatJumeirah Arena tomorrow (Wednesday)under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice-President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai.

The jury panel, chaired by H.E. Sultan Bin Saeed Al Mansouri, UAE Minister of Economy, and Chairman of the Award,met on Monday at the Boardroom of the Hyatt Regency Dubai Creek Heights Hotel to endorse the winners of the award which is based on the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Business Performance Program developed by Dubai Chamber.

The five-member jury panel, headed by H.E. Al Mansouri, comprises of local and international experts in the field of excellence. They include H.E. Mohamed ThaniMurshed Al Rumaithi, Chairman, Federation of UAE Chambers of Commerce & Industry, H.E. Sheikh Saif Bin Hashil Al Maskery, Former Member of State Council, Sultanate of Oman, Mr.Fadi F. Farra, Co-Founder & Partner, Whiteshield Partners, and Mr.AngHakSeng, Chairman of the Singapore Quality Award Management Committee, and Member of the Singapore Quality AwardGoverning Council.

The high profile award presentation ceremony on Wednesday will be attended by Government departments, dignitaries, Board members and top officials of Dubai Chamber, representatives of business councils and groups, a large number of businessmen and members of local and regional media.

The award, whose categories are Trade, Finance, Manufacturing, Services, Construction, Re-Export, Transport and Logistics, is supported by the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum BusinessPerformance Program, which is an year-long intensive and rigorous qualification scheme that all applicant companies must complete.

H.E. HamadBuamim, President and CEO of Dubai Chamber and Chairman of the Steering Committee of the Award, presented the names of the shortlisted companies to the panel of international and local judges who chose the winners from among the companies including those from the GCC countries participating for the first time and have committed themselves to the conditions and criteria of the award.

Lauding the competence of the judging panel, H.E. Buamimstated that the five-member jury panel's vast experience in the area of excellence will add value to the award and will also help reinforce its position as the leading recognition for assessing and evaluating business performance not only in the UAE but the entire region as the award has embraced all GCC companies whichhave demonstrated considerable excellence and innovative practices.

He also stated that Dubai Chamber has given the final touches to the awardceremony which will be celebrating innovation and creativity while recognising the winnersfor demonstrating the highest level of institutional performance in corporate excellence.

Over the years, the award has promoted a competitive business environment by addressing the challenges faced by companies and institutions while allowing them to obtain an organisational learning experience through self-assessmentand comparison with best global business practices as well as by providing them a detailed report about their overall performance including their strengths and weaknesses, he said.

Held annually under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice-President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, the prestigious award's Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Business Performance Program encourages companies to adopt global best practices and improve their performance. The award is the winner of the Dubai Government Excellence Programme for the 'Best Administrative Initiative' in 2007.
