MUSCAT: Bahwan CyberTek, a leading information technology products and services firm in Oman, is strengthening its presence in overseas markets through joint ventures.
The company yesterday signed a pact to set up a joint venture entity with Brunei Darussalam's largest telecom player - Telekom Brunei Berhad's.
The 51:49 joint venture between Bahwan and the Brunei firm will be based in Brunei Darussalam for implementing and managing a state-of-the-art hosted contact centre, implementation of software applications for the telecom and government verticals, said officials of both companies, after signing the agreement.
The joint entity will leverage on the state-of-the-art Cuecent technologies developed by Bahwan Cybertek and the deep domain expertise of Telbru to jointly create and market products for the telcom and government vertical.
Being first of its kind in the local market to address contact centre business, would not only target local business but would also address the needs of the BIMP-EAGA region (Brunei Darussalam-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines).
The business model has been developed in such a manner so as to provide maximum employment and benefit to the local citizens by way of specialised training on latest technology provided by Bahwan CyberTek.

The event was attended by several officials, including Dato Dr Haji Awang Besar bin Hj Abu Bakar, the ambassador of Brunei to the Sultanate; Hind Bahwan, chairperson of Bahwan CyberTek group, Durgaprasad, director and chief executive of Bahwan CyberTek group; S. Vishwanathan, associate vice-president of Bahwan Cybertek along with high profile delegation from Telekom Brunei comprising Y. M. Awang Haji Zakaria bin Hj Serudin, board member of Telbru board of directors; and Y. M. Sahralidin Abdul Momin- CTO- B-One, general manager of Sipadu systems & Network systems- Telbru.
"Bahwan CyberTek has been working closely with Telekom Brunei for over a year now to develop the roadmap and strategy for jointly addressing the market needs of Brunei Darussalam by leveraging on the vast experience Bahwan CyberTek has in IT and ITES business," said Hind Bahwan. "We are very pleased to get into this agreement with Telekom Brunei, who have been very supportive in this engagement and have worked closely with our teams to synergise the efforts."
"On the back of a strong bi lateral relationship between Brunei and Oman we decided to focus our attention on Brunei by making it a hub for our growth in the Asean region. Today we service large clients like Ministry of Primary Resources, Ministry of Home Affairs, Shell Brunei amongst others," noted Durgaprasad.
"Our relationship with Telbru has been for over a year and with the signing of this JV we expect it to grow from strength to strength. We see a lot of synergies between the 2 organisations and this will be a wonderful platform for our growth in the region," added Durgaprasad.
