Kuwait City, State of Kuwait: The American Hospital Dubai, the pioneers of US standard private healthcare in the Middle East, will present its latest clinical innovations and range of specialized regional centers of excellence including Orthopedics and Total Joint Replacement Center, The Heart Center, Cancer Care Center, and Neuroscience Center, at Kuwait Medica 2015, where the hospital is a Gold Sponsor. Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Nayzak Raoof will  present its range of tertiary capabilities as part of a medical tourism presentation at the event under the topic "Delivering the American Standard of Care in the Middle East"

The American Hospital Dubai already treats around 2000 individual and corporate patients from Kuwait each year and this number is growing at around 10% per annum. These patients generally refer themselves to the hospital for treatment, which typically comprises interventional cardiology, orthopedics, and neurosurgery. Around half of all the hospital's patients are covered by insurers, who also refer complex cases from around the region to the American Hospital Dubai, as a regional center of excellence with strong tertiary care capabilities.

American Hospital Dubai - latest innovations and developments 

The American Hospital Dubai has become the first private hospital in the UAE to acquire the FACSCalibur™ Flow Cytometry system (analyzer and software), the state of the art technology used in the fast and definitive diagnosis of cancers and tumors of the blood cells/leukemia. Initial results are available within two hours rather than days. The hospital's Cancer Care Center offers adults and children a comprehensive range of diagnostic, treatment and rehabilitation services, including chemotherapy and the only radiotherapy department in Dubai. The Cancer Care Center treats up to 50 patients every day. 

The Nuclear Medicine Department has introduced a new radiation therapy as part of its comprehensive care for thyroid cancer patients; Radioiodine (iodine 131) is used in radiation therapy for thyroid cancer patients after surgery, to destroy any remaining cancer cells and to lower the risk of a recurrence of the disease and help to improve the survival rates of patients. 

The hospital's Cardiac Team has introduced a range of new heart procedures offering new hope to patients suffering from very common health conditions - heart arrhythmia, Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA), and resistant hypertension - which can be life threatening and are now treatable through advanced minimal access surgery. The American Hospital Dubai Heart Center treats all types of adult cardiac conditions including interventional cardiology and surgery. It is equipped with the a state of the art Cath Lab.

The new Orthopedics and Total Joint Replacement Center treats adults and children with a wide range of joint related conditions through a team of Western board certified specialist orthopedic surgeons and practitioners. The team delivers orthopedic trauma management, joint replacement surgery of the hip and knee joints, acute and reparative management of joint dislocations, arthroscopic diagnostic and therapeutic surgery of knees and shoulders, as well as sports medicine and physiotherapy.  The Center has an outstanding regional and international reputation and was the first Total Joint Replacement Center in the Middle East, and only the fourth in the world. The Center, along with its surgical expertise is equipped with the latest technology, including a 'Navigation System' to assist in the accuracy of joint replacement and offers an extensive range of full and partial artificial joints.

American Hospital Dubai has added a wide bore 3T MRI scanner to the Medical Imaging Department, to meet increasing patient demand for MRI and improve patient diagnosis with outstanding image quality and clarity. The hospital introduced the 3-tesla MRI scanner to support the work of specialist consultants in increasingly sophisticated areas, such as neurosciences and orthopedics, and to further support the hospital's physicians in staging of disease and follow up, surgery and treatment planning.

The hospital's new bed tower is currently rolling out new facilities that will create an additional 197 beds in private rooms and suites, transforming the hospital into a 384-bed campus.
