The Fair is intended to raise Emiratization rate to 95%

Al Murar: strategies made for recruiting talented citizens, training programs developed, and best practices adopted in human resources management

Under the umbrella of the Department of Municipal Affairs, the Abu Dhabi City Municipality is participating in the Career Fair 2016, which kick-started last Monday in Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre. The Municipality is offering tens of job opportunities for qualified Emirati job seekers.

HE Musbbah Mubarak Al Murar, Acting General Manager of Abu Dhabi City Municipality said, "The Municipal System in Abu Dhabi always strives to ensure career development for citizens, provide a professional working environment, and adopt practices to promote creativity and leadership among citizens. It also seeks to develop strategies aimed at recruiting skilled and talented citizens, design training programs for employees and adopt the best practices in human resources management."

"The Municipality's participation in the Career Fair 2016 comes in the framework of the Municipality's strategy to implement the job succession policy, attract qualified citizens, expand, and avail more job opportunities for the UAE nationals in order to achieve the highest Emiratization rate. The Municipality views Abu Dhabi Career Fair as a key platform for participating bodies to offer job opportunities by targeting young job seekers who come to the Fair looking for vacancies matching to their qualifications and experience. Thus it contribute to achieving the Emiratization drive in an optimal manner and avail the opportunity to assess labor market needs," added Al Murar.

The Municipality, he adds, enables the Fair visitors to submit their job applications in a smooth manner, as it has assigned a specialized team to receive male and female citizens, provide adequate information to applicants about job benefits & responsibilities, and the possibility to follow up their applications via the Municipality's contact details.

 "Out of its keenness to implement the Emiratization plan, Abu Dhabi City Municipality launched in 2013, in collaboration with Musanada, and Abu Dhabi Systems and Information Centre, a new online program for managing the recruitment process in Abu Dhabi City Municipality, linked with the Abu Dhabi Tawteen Council, and Jobs Abu Dhabi Portal with the aim of attracting competent staffs from within the UAE via an online process starting with the submission of job application and ending with the employment of the candidate," continued Al Murar.

He said that the Municipality's Emiratization policies reflected the keenness of the municipal system to implement the job succession policy and avail employment and qualification opportunities for citizens so that they join the public institutions; thus achieving Abu Dhabi's Emiratization vision.

Al Murar called upon all qualified Emirati cadres to seize this opportunity and submit their qualifications to the participating entities. He pointed out that the Municipality would consider all applications seriously and carefully, besides subjecting candidates to interviews and accordingly recruiting successful ones in certain specialties in accordance with the Municipality's needs and vacancies on offer. "The Municipality pursues a policy revolving around developing young national cadres in keeping with general policy agenda of Abu Dhabi Government aimed at providing the public sector with skilled and competent cadres who would contribute to realizing the government's strategic goals of achieving the highest Emiratization rates in the public sector."

The Municipal System in Abu Dhabi always strives to ensure professional development for citizens, provide a professional work environment, and adopt work practices that promote creativity and leadership among citizens. It is also keen on adopting strategies aimed at recruiting skilled and talented citizens, designing training programs for employees and adopting the best practices in human resources management.

Owaida Al Qubaisi, Acting Executive Director of Support Services Sector, said that the Municipality had achieved 94% Emiratization rate.

Al Qubaisi added: "127 Emirati female employees have been recruited this year, and the number of Emirati women in the Municipality's organizational structure is now 129 ladies, occupying leadership, administrative and technical jobs, including 7 in grade 2, 18 women in grade 3, 39 in grade 4, 13 in grade 5, 39 in grade 6, and 13 in grade 7."

The Acting Executive Director of Support Services Sector added: "The Municipality intends to raise Emirati women percentage in the Municipality to 35% of the total municipal workforce. The number of Emirati women recruited in the Municipality out of the total number of posted and non-posted workforce as well as contracted personnel has reached 732 of whom 31% .

Regarding the employment of the disabled, Al Qubaisi pointed out that 3 disabled employees were recruited last year, bringing the total number of disabled staffs to 18, with more to be recruited in future.

"This career fair avails public & private organizations of a genuine opportunity to identify the talented and skilled national cadres at various educational levels. The importance we attach to this Fair is prompted by the need to perpetuate systematic Emiratization drive built on the actual assessment & planned preparation of human resources, and developing training programs capable of uplifting the performance and the ability of these cadres to lead the business up to the required standards befitting the scale of the ongoing massive development seen by the Emirate of Abu Dhabi," added the Acting Executive Director of Support Services Sector.

It is worth-mentioning that Abu Dhabi City Municipality launched in 2013, in collaboration with Musanada and Abu Dhabi Systems and Information Centre, a new online program for managing the recruitment process in Abu Dhabi City Municipality, linked with the Abu Dhabi Tawteen Council, and Jobs Abu Dhabi Portal with the aim of attracting competent staffs from within the UAE via an online process starting with the submission of job application and ending with the employment of the candidate.

Al Qubaisi added that the Municipality participated in Career Fair through the municipal system's pavilion devoted to receiving job applications .
