Effective participation of local government departments and bodies

The number of participants in the 3rd Dubai Government Achievements Exhibition (DGAE), organised by Dubai Government Excellence Program (DGEP) that belongs to the Secretariat General of the Dubai Executive Council, under the patronage of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, has increased from 14 last year to 32 in this year's edition.

The third edition of the show will kick off tomorrow (Monday, 30 March 2015) and continues until 1 April, with a percentage growth of 44% mostly from the Government of Dubai departments and bodies  with presence of some federal government and regional government participations.

The 3rd DGAE is characterized by innovation under the theme 'Local Government and Global Achievements' with innovation topping its agenda in line with UAE government announcement of  2015 as the Year of Innovation under the directive of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE. The departments and bodies will open the platforms to educate visitors about their services and achievements, and the smart solutions that make it easier for customers accomplish their work and contribute to raising the standards of happiness in the Emirate.

Several departments will display the journey of developing the services and their  support to raising the efficiency of their national capacities. They will also focus on the field of innovation and creativity by government bodies, which has been a new phase in governmental work, especially in the field of smart government.

HE Abdullah Al Shibani, Secretary-General of the Dubai Executive Council, and Chairman of DGEP praised the wide participation this year and said: "Dubai Government Achievements Exhibition will begin on (Monday, March 30, 2015) reflecting the Executive Council's commitment to implementing the vision of Dubai  Government and confirms the success of ongoing efforts to support innovation in government work. Visitors to the exhibition will be able to review, over three days, the achievements of the government bodies mainly at the servicing front."

Dr. Ahmed Al Nuseirat, Coordinator General, DGEP said: "Local and international visitors will get to know the developing process of government services in all its forms, and share with them the  inspiring success stories. We received very positive feedback from participants as well as local and international visitors for the benefit they obtained from participating in the previous edition of the show, and this is what motivates us to expand participation and support the expo's development."

Hazza Khalfan Al Nuaimi, Senior Manager of Excellence Initiatives at DGEP, said that current edition will be held in Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre with almost double the number of participants compared to last year. He added: "Our priority is to create interaction and open communication channels with government entities, and showcasing innovative ways of doing government work in excellence across various sectors."

Dubai Municipality and Dubai Land Department are Strategic Sponsors of the event; Dubai Media Incorporated (DMI) is Strategic Media Sponsor, and Expo 2020 is Strategic Partner.

HE Eng. Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director General of Dubai Municipality said:  "We believe that government work in Dubai is on the right track, and government departments are doing their best to improve their services under the direction of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai. Dubai Municipality is supporting this approach and we value the efforts of Dubai Government and DGEP to add innovative elements in the show."

HE Sultan Butti Bin Mejren, Director General of DLD, said: "We are delighted to support the DGAE that will highlight modern concepts in government work, including pursuit of excellence, innovation, creativity and technology. Ahmed Saeed Al Mansouri, Director-General of DMI channels, speaking about the significance of the exhibition stressed the benefits of exchanging expertise and showcasing the achievements of Dubai government in different sectors like economy, development, security, innovation,  smart transformation and sustainability, among others.  Also, the topics and ideas on the agenda of the exhibition revolve around innovation and excellence in government work in line with UAE focus on innovation, reflected in the announcement of 2015 as year of innovation in the UAE, under the directive of UAE President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Major General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General of the General Directorate for Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai said the GDRFA will be part of the DGAE which goes in line with the vision and held under the directive of Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum who said that 'Innovation is a daily necessity in government work'.

Major General Al Marri said the year 2015 is the year of innovations and the GDRFA will showcase a number of new smart services, adding that achieving excellence at work comes by promoting innovation and encouraging Emirati talents.

HE Hani Al Hamli, Secretary-General, Dubai Economic Council noted that the Council's involvement in the exhibition is linked to its strategy of supporting positive enablers of economic policies, and hailed it as an important event not only to showcase achievements, but also to exchange experiences and learn from other success stories. 

Hani Al Hamli said: "We expect strong participation in this year's edition. Based on the experience of the participating government departments in previous editions, we are confident the show will climb new heights of success, because of the many dramatic developments in types of services provided to the community, especially after the launch of series of innovation-driven initiatives by Government of Dubai aimed at transforming Dubai into a smart city in every sense."

Dubai Customs is also set to take part in the show 2015 with 10 new projects that were developed to further streamline Customs procedures for passengers and consignments, while at the same time keeping both the economy and the community safe.

Dubai Customs' Director of Strategy and Corporate Excellence, Ahmed Abdul Salam Kazim said the in-house developed projects will further boost the UAE's competitive edge on the global landscape, by cutting short the time needed for Customs formalities and expediting passengers flow.

"DC's participation at DGAE 2015 is in line with the state's drive to mark 2015 as the Year of Innovation, following the directives of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE President, and is in keeping with the National Innovation Strategy, launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai," Kazim added.

Dubai Courts will also feature its 'Smart Detention' program, 'Private Notary Services' and 'Al Salfa' initiatives, Centre for Amicable Settlement of Disputes, and 'Shoor' program. All these initiatives are in line with the UAE's efforts to transform into a smart government through services that will help people attain happy and improved lives.

H.E. Expert Tarish Eid Al Mansouri, Director General, Dubai Courts, said: "DGAE  has been proven over the past years as a unique strategic platform on a global scale. It allows the exchange of best practices and experience among government entities in Dubai, a model of excellent governance locally, regionally and internationally."

The Dubai Civil Aviation Authority (DCAA) is actively participating in the 2015 edition of DGAE in line with the vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoumi. His Excellency Mohammed Abdulla Al Ahli, Director General of DCAA, said: "We are proud about the achievements of the UAE in the civil aviation and the top global position the country enjoys in the aviation safety domain as spelled out by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO)." "The DCAA is continuously working towards the development of civil aviation sector and enhancing levels of excellence to its services which will contribute to meeting the challenges of the future to achieve even more achievements at the local and global level."

Through its participation in the DGAE, the DCAA intends to highlight its diverse activities and initiatives in the civil aviation domain and the amazing transformation of the civil aviation in the Emirate of Dubai.

Ahmed bin Mishar Al Muhairi, Secretary General of The Supreme Legislation Committee (SLC) in Dubai said that SLC marks its first participation in DGAE this year, in line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Maktoum Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Supreme Legislation Committee. He added that SLC should contribute through its achievements and services to reflect  a true picture of the legislative system of the Emirate, which is one of the most important pillars of building societies, development, prosperity, and holds evidence of excellence and leadership.

He added that SLC, since inception, seeks to achieve goals and ambitions that are consistent with the sustainable development of Dubai. The Committee has set itself three main themes in its strategic plan: The development of the legislative process, the application of optimal legislation, and strengthening the legal system. SLC participation in the exhibition as it is a prominent platform for defining the Committee's role and responsibilities, as well as showcase the best practices, exchange expertise and share knowledge with others. The Committee will put on display the most important achievements and services launched in its first year, which are: the smart application, the website Official Gateway Gazette, and the Official Gazette e-Service to subscribers.
