Amman - SAMENA Telecommunications Council today announced that the 2015 Telecom Leaders' Summit will take place in Dubai on the 2nd of June with discussions focusing on the central theme of "Broadband Transformation: Visualizing New Opportunities and Defining Urgent Imperatives in Stakeholder Co-Operation."

The Summit which is organised by SAMENA Council & hosted by Huawei will assemble the who's who of the region's telecom and ICT industry to discuss innovative approaches towards fostering growth and building consensus in driving the next phase of growth of the broadband industry which is a key enabler of digitization.

Bocar BA, Chief Executive Officer, SAMENA Council, said, "The Telecom Leaders' Summit will bring together stakeholders from across the ICT ecosystem including policymakers, regulators, operators, technology providers and Internet players. Over time, the need for a coordinated effort among the various stakeholders has gained momentum, and it has been our mission at SAMENA Council to support these efforts and provide a platform for industry players to build consensus and foster growth."

He added, "Adopting a more collaborative approach has become more important at a time when the broadband industry is passing through a phase of transformation in light of the emerging challenges and opportunities. The fact that, in today's scenario, all of the stakeholders - whether operators, regulators, technology vendors or content providers - have a decisive role to play in driving broadband industry growth further heightens the need for closer cooperation."

Shi Yaohong, President of Huawei Middle East, said, "We live in a dynamic era of technological progress. Bringing the power of broadband to more societies around the globe has helped nations to improve efficiencies, transform local industries, and ultimately create better experiences for everyone. Against this backdrop, The Telecom Leaders' Summit 2015 provides a unique platform for all ICT industry stakeholders to visualize new opportunities in the digital economy, while at the same time addressing shared challenges through greater levels of cooperation. Together we can enable more people to participate in--and benefit from--a better connected world."

As well as turning the spotlight on the need to build greater cross-industry cooperation, the 2015 Telecom Leaders' Summit will focus on broadband infrastructure deployment in the SAMENA region and the need for citizen-centric innovation in building a truly digital society, among other issues.

The Telecom Leaders Summit serves as the SAMENA Council's signature platform, bringing together operators, regulators, ministers & relevant industry players to discuss prospects for cooperation and collaboration in order to build consensus and facilitate measurable progress on key issues of the Telecom & ICT industry within the SAMENA region.
