According to a major international provider of business analytical information Thomson Reuters, Russian State Corporation ROSATOM has entered the top ten of the world's innovation leaders in the field of nuclear energy.

Due to the report of Thomson Reuters, leading organizations in the field of nuclear fusion and fission are mostly located in Asia (15 of 20). China is the most active country in this field (35% of local organizations are included in the rating of innovation in nuclear energy), on the second place - Japan with 25%.

Japanese Toshiba is on top of the list of companies and organizations. On second place - Hitachi-GE Nuclear Energy (a joint venture between Japan and US companies), next is Japanese Mitsubishi.

"Russia was ranked on 10th place with State Corporation ROSATOM", stated by Thomson Reuters. According to the company, in the period between 2010 and 2015 ROSATOM declared more than 250 patents in the field of thermonuclear fusion and in the main area of nuclear energy based on nuclear fission.

As Thomson Reuters points out, most of the patent activity of ROSATOM in this period focused on several areas, including technologies of inertial confinement fusion and technologies of magnetic confinement of hot fusion plasma. "It is worth noting that during this period 2015 was the most productive year for ROSATOM in terms of patent activity", emphasized in the message.

Thomson Reuters reminds that Russian nuclear scientists are actively involved in the international project ITER (International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor), which is aimed at the study of nuclear fusion technologies.
