UAE - His Excellency (H.E.) Dr. Mohamed Salim Al Olama, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health & Prevention (MOHAP) recently met with H.E. Dr. Abdelqader Saleh, Ambassador of the Republic of Ethiopia to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), at the Ministry of Health and Prevention office in Abu Dhabi to discuss future cooperation across joint initiatives in the field of health. Also present during the meeting was Dr. Essa Al Mansouri, Office Manager for the Undersecretary and Director of International Health Relations, MOHAP.

The meeting focused on the further enhancement of relations between the UAE and Ethiopia, especially in the health care sector—including the sharing and exchange of knowledge and experience in continuous medical training, strengthening of cooperation in public health, facilitating the admission and employment of nurses, doctors and technicians according to approved standards and providing an environment and legislation that can attract more investments in the pharmaceutical and medical industries.

The undersecretary welcomed the Ethiopian ambassador and expressed the UAE’s optimism in enhancing joint cooperation in the health field to achieve the optimum performance of health services for both countries. He briefed the ambassador on the initiatives launched by MOHAP in partnership with the private sector. H.E pointed out that providing advanced health services to a society that enjoys sustainable health through performance indicators, falls in line with international standards for health facilities, the efficiency of medical staff, the wide use of health information technology and the organization of the best health conferences and exhibitions in the world.

For his part, the Ethiopian ambassador expressed his happiness at the meeting with the Undersecretary and relayed his desire to strengthen cooperation and organize visits to learn more about the latest medical practices. He praised the distinguished reputation of the UAE’s health care sector and stressed his country's intentions to further develop stronger health relations between the two countries.
