CHEYENNE, US, 15th June, 2017 (WAM) -- Abdulla Alsaboosi, UAE Consul-General in Los Angeles, has traveled to Wyoming on an official visit to meet with local government officials and business leaders to highlight deepening ties between the state and the UAE.

During his stay, the Consul-General visited Cheyenne, Jackson Hole, and the University of Wyoming in Laramie.

While in Cheyenne, he met with the Honorable Matthew Mead, Governor of Wyoming, and exchanged perspectives on building a UAE-Wyoming relationship and possible areas of future collaboration and visiting the UAE.

Mr. Alsaboosi met with the Mayor of Cheyenne, Marian Orr and discussed the city of Cheyenne as an important and exciting crossroad well-planned growth. He also met with leaders in the Wyoming Business Council and discussed trade opportunities.

In Jackson Hole, Alsaboosi met with David Wendt, President of the Jackson Hole Centre for Global Affairs, a premier bipartisan think-tank in the Rocky Mountain region.

They discussed the centre's efforts to create economic diversification and climate change leadership opportunities for Wyoming and the world, leveraging Jackson Hole's 'Power of Place' to address global issues and developing Wyoming's next generation of leaders in public affairs.

The UAE Consul-General also met with energy leaders in the Jackson Hole area and highlighted the UAE's achievements and initiatives that have become icons of the strong will and symbols of excellence under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The UAE is the USs largest trading partner in the Middle East region, with bilateral trade totaling $25.73 billion in 2016 remaining the United States top export destination for the entire region for the eighth year in a row. Over the past five years, US exports to the UAE grew by 97% close to $25 billion in 2016. Wyomings exports came largely in form of chemicals and machinery.

"During my visit to Wyoming, I enjoyed meeting the Governor along with local governments and business leaders," said Consul-General Alsaboosi. "I am excited by the prospect of deepening our relationship across a range of areas, such as energy, innovative technologies, trade and tourism." Alsaboosis visit to Wyoming is part of the Consulates ongoing effort to raise awareness among West Coast Americans of the UAEs role as a reliable partner in the region, and of the increasingly shared values between the UAE and the US. He announced his plans to visit additional states in the Western Region in the coming months.
