Qatar has launched a new shipping line for direct transport of goods with India, the Kuwaiti News Agency (KUNA) reported on Thursday, citing the Qatari Ministry of Transport and Communications.

The new shipping line connects Hamad port with both of India’s Mundra port and Nhava Sheva port.

The ministry noted that carriers of the new shipping line will reach Hamad port every Friday. The first shipment will carry 710 containers, with the increased as necessary.

The ministry also noted that it had started executing the first part of the second phase of Hamad port after signing contracts worth $547 million for the development work.
