Doha: The Qatar International Boat Show 2016 (QIBS’16) continues to build on its role in the advancement of local economic diversification and the regional maritime industry by welcoming a comprehensive international line up of exhibitors to the fourth edition of the show, running December 7 to 10 in Mourjan Marinas - Lusail City.
Citizens and residents of the Gulf countries now own more than 40,000 boats that are 5-meters in length or more and one in eight of the world’s super yachts are owned by Middle East buyers. Contributing to this boom in the recreational marine sector is the rise in the number of marinas in the region, which now stands at over 60. Furthermore, local and regional boat manufacturers comprise 50 percent of this flourishing market, with the vast share of the growth being witnessed in the UAE, Kuwait and Qatar.
QIBS continues its leadership role in advancing the nautical industry and will be hosting a diverse slate of international and regional vendors in 2016. All of these brands will be engaging with Qatari-based companies to foster new business and to strengthen existing commercial ties. The lineup of vendors includes, Ad Mare Sailing from Bucharest, Romania. Ad Mare Sailing will be present at the 4th edition of QIBS as the Middle East’s exclusive retailer of the Zoom 8 dinghy. The Zoom 8 has been celebrated for successfully filling the need in the market for a leisure boat that bridges the gap between amateur sailing vessels and professional sailing boats.
Also present at this year’s show is the distinguished Qatar-based company Ali bin Ali Group, which will be showcasing a dazzling collection of luxury Ulysse Nardin nautical watches inspired by the powerful movement of the ocean. Sunseeker Middle East LLC, a subsidiary of the Ilyas and Mustafa Group based in Dubai, will be on hand to provide information on their iconic yachts that are renowned amongst boating enthusiasts for their sophistication and power. For businesses and visitors looking to maintain or to upgrade, XTL Marine from Dubai boasts countless options and solutions for boat and yacht owners looking for repairs or expert detailing and decorative enhancements.
United Marine Trading (UMT) hails from Bahrain and prides itself for being one of the leading companies that specializes in the design, construction, installation and maintenance of floating docks and PWC lifts. The company also specializes in waterfront and marina design, along with creating distinctive swimming pools systems for commercial and residential projects.
After UMT’s success in designing and building the marina of the New Coast Guard Bas project in Qatar, UMT also planned and constructed five water taxi berths at Qanat Quartier at the Pearl Qatar. A VIP opening ceremony will take place on Wednesday 7 December, where HE Sheikh Sheikh Abdullah Bin Nasser Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, will officially open the show. QIBS’16 will then be open for boat enthusiasts and potential buyers from the GCC and further, from 2.30pm to 9.30pm Thursday to Saturday.
