Abu Dhabi: The State Security Court at the Federal Supreme Court on Monday upheld the Abu Dhabi Federal Appeals Court’s ruling handed down to an Arab, 40, to serve six months in jail to be followed by deportation.

The man was found guilty of insulting the UAE and its laws.

In another case, an Emirati man, A.N.H., had his appeal against his two-year prison term turned down.

The man was found guilty of broadcasting a statement via the police operation room of an emirate, insulting leaders of the country.

In a third case, an Emirati man, 52, had his appeal accepted, dismissing a life sentence given to him by the Abu Dhabi Federal Appeals Court for a terror-related offence.

The man was found guilty by the lower court of attempting to kill a person by knocking down him with his car and promoting terrorist ideology.

The verdict on an appeal of an Emirati woman, 22, against a five-year prison term given by the lower court for joining the terrorist organisation Daesh, transferring money to elements of the group and running social media accounts to promote ideology of terrorist organisations, was put on till May 29.

The court also heard a request by the defendant to be moved to another prison after she spent more than 19 months in Al Wathba prison.

The court ordered the prosecutors to look into her request and take up her health needs.
