HUAWEI Tech. Investment Saudi Arabia and (ISG) Industrial Systems Group, which is an affiliate of Al Abdulkarim Holding, have forged an alliance that will see Huawei sharing its global ICT knowledge, technical and manufacturing capability with ISG to manufacture uninterrupted power supply (UPS) units in Saudi Arabia.

This manufacturing collaboration with Huawei follows the visit of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman to China, where Saudi Arabia and China agreed to bolster cooperation in the ICT industry to accelerate deployment of smart city innovation in KSA, in line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.

“As a leading manufacturer and supplier of electrical, telecommunications,  electromechanical, instrumentation and process analytical components across numerous industries in the Kingdom such as electrical, mining, oil & gas, petrochemical and communication, ISG is committed to helping its customers achieve operational excellence and is constantly looking to manufacture innovative products and solutions to match and exceed customers satisfaction,” said Khalid Al Abdulkarim, CEO of Industrial Systems Group. “Through this collaboration with Huawei, we are able to deliver on our commitment with best-of-breed technology.”

Huawei’s global industry leadership is attributed to its extensive focus on research and development, and ISG is pleased to be collaborating with an organization that has R&D in its DNA. “As a fully registered Saudi company, Huawei is committed to supporting His Majesty’s vision to transform the Kingdom,” Ramadan Ding, CEO of Huawei Tech Investment Saudi Arabia. “By partnering with ISG to manufacturer UPS units in the Kingdom, Huawei is delivering on its long-term commitment to contribute to the Kingdom’s digital transformation.”

The partnership was signed during the ‘Saudi-China Investment Forum’ which was held on 16 March to coincide with the King’s visit.  As part of the agreement, Huawei will provide ISG, an affiliate of Al Abdulkarim Holding, the technology, materials, manufacturing training and supervision. ISG will establish and manage the manufacturing facility. The UPS units built by ISG will carry their brand and logo.

The ‘Saudi-China Investment Forum’ was organized under the supervision of the Ministry of Commerce and Investment, in cooperation with Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority (SAGIA) and the Council of Saudi Chambers (CSC) with facilitation by Saudi Aramco. Held on March 16, 2017, it was inaugurated by Abdulrahman Al-Harbi, General Administrator for International Trade Agency at the Ministry of Commerce and Investment. It was also attended by other ministers from both countries.  Support to the forum was also provided by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and the Investment Promotion Agency of the Chinese Ministry of Commerce.

The forum focused on the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, the roles that the private sectors of both countries can have in the implementation of that vision, and the Belt and Road Initiative. The program also included signing ceremonies and MOUs between various Saudi and Chinese companies and entities.
