In ten days, millions of Muslims from across the globe are expected to visit Saudi Arabia to perform Islam’s holy pilgrimage. Zawya's sister site, My Salaam, surveyed pilgrims who have completed journey before to create an eight-point guide for a happy haj.

The eight points are: Patience, being physically fit to perform the haj rituals that could be tiring, relaxed footwear or none at all, use a haj app for guides, have chafing creams, stay hydrated, have power bars with you and don’t carry a big bag during haj procedures.

Saudi Arabia this month announced several regulations to help ease procedures for pilgrims. The latest was a decision by Saudi Arabia’s central bank on Saturday to allow the trading of Qatari riyals. Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt cut diplomatic and direct transport ties with Qatar in June.

A special electronic registration service was also established for the first time in the kingdom to help clamp down on illegal haj pilgrims.

So far, around 993,000 pilgrims have arrived in Saudi Arabia for the haj, a 22.5 percent increase from last year, according to report by Saudi press Agency (SPA).
