Abu Dhabi - Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB), a leading financial institution, has won the prestigious Talent Management Award at the GCC HR Awards 2017 for its leading role in recruiting and developing local talent. The award was received by Waheeb Al Khazraji, head of human resources at Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank, during a ceremony on October 31st at the Emirates Palace Hotel, Abu Dhabi.

ADIB was recognised for its commitment to recruitment, ongoing training and development programmes, coaching and mentoring, assessing and developing leadership capabilities, monitoring talent and measuring talent development.

Waheeb Al Khazraji head of human resources at Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank, said, “We are delighted to receive this honour in recognition of our commitment to always create a positive and inspirational work culture for our team. We are proud of our longstanding track record in recruiting and developing local talent. This not only supports ADIB’s growth strategy, but also contributes to the development of the next generation of leaders across the GCC’s public and private sectors. Supporting UAE nationals into becoming future banking leaders remains a key objective and we will continue to develop successful training and leadership programmes for all employees.”

ADIB has already started adopting a new points-based system, approved by the UAE government and the UAE Central Bank, that promotes the entry of UAE nationals into the financial sector while providing a working environment which encourages long-term career development.

ADIB has three distinct training programmes dedicated to supporting UAE nationals within the bank. The Retail Banking Programme hires young Emiratis based on the bank’s anticipated needs, enrolls them in a full-time training programme to develop their skills and prepare them to take on rolls within the bank. Qiyadat is a leadership initiative designed to give ADIB Emirati staff first-hand management experience. Similarly, the Tamkeen Women’s programme is a leadership training programme dedicated to empowering ADIB’s female Emirati employees.

ADIB has received numerous awards for its Emiratization efforts including the award for Best Nationalization Initiative and Excellence in Talent Management from the MENA HR Awards, and the Human Resource Development Award from the Emirates Institute of Banking and Financial Studies.
