Dubai: An independent UAE-based institute has announced the top 25 schools in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

SchoolsCompared.com – a sister site to WhichSchoolAdvisor.com – revealed the names of winners on Monday.

James Mullan, founder of SchoolsCompared.com, said: “Parents consistently ask us to name the very best schools in the UAE. This is as definitive an answer as you will get. These are the first school awards in the UAE to be decided on the basis of independent feedback from parents, children and teachers themselves - in conjunction with our industry experts.”

The awards cover schools from all sectors and winning schools are represented from across British, Indian, French and American curricula.

Mark Steed, director of Jumeirah English Speaking School (JESS) at Arabian Ranches in Dubai, said: “We are delighted to have been recognised as ‘The Best School in Dubai and Abu Dhabi’ – it is a great honour. The challenge for JESS, which has played a leading part in educational landscape in the UAE for over 40 years, is to remain at the top of our game. At JESS, we believe that schools should provide prospective parents with reliable and trustworthy information, such as public examination results and value-added scores, which will enable them to make informed decisions about their choice of school and we hope that other schools will follow our lead.”

Each of the 25 schools was decided on the basis of outstandingly positive feedback by parents, teachers and students, schools visits and the expert views of a panel of judges from SchoolsCompared.com and WhichSchoolAdvisor.com.

Brendan Law, headmaster at Cranleigh Abu Dhabi, said: “We are so proud that the collective efforts of our wonderful team have been recognised in these prestigious awards. In a world where league tables are primarily about academic achievement, mostly the preserve of highly selective schools, it is refreshing to see an independent assessor take the whole child into consideration.”
